Im a Stay at Home Mom to three beautiful girls. I enjoy baking, especially cake pops, and making naturally homemade products for my family and others. I am learning new reasons to keep my family on whole foods, staying away from processed foods and also not vaccinating.
It's been a few months since I've made these cake pops but I have just been so busy with so much that I didn't have a chance to come on here and blog about it. My niece turned 2 on April 26 and she was having an Elmo themed birthday party. I thought, this would be my perfect chance to attempt the Elmo cake pops inspired by Bakerella. They were pretty time consuming and because I'm already busy as it is with three young ones and taking care of the house and husband as well, I waited last minute to make these. Ha! Boy was it stressful. I had fun making them! However, I hated the stopping in between to do this and that for everyone else. The day before I made the cake balls using my Bella Cake Pop maker. I don't like adding in the frosting and rolling it by hand if I just need them to be a circle shape. Mainly because I like the cake taste rather than the ones mixed with frosting that become too sweet. So after making the cake balls I stored them in the fridge for an hour or so and then dipped the sticks in candy melts and dipped them in the balls, not more than halfway through. Stored them in the fridge until the next day. I know you don't have to wait until the next day, but I do just because it had issues before with the cake ball falling off the sticks and this way I was more successful.
The materials needed shown here
were obviously the cake pop maker,
red candy melts,chocolate candy
melts for cut in half for the mouth,
candy eyeballs, chocolate cake mix,
and although they're not shown,
I had the orange sixlets
for the nose
Here it goes.....
Next I dipped the cake pops in the red candy melts & placed on the styrofoam to dry.
After dipping all in one coat of red candy melts, I dipped again
and began to add the eyes, nose and mouth. I had to hold the cake
pop to let the face sit, otherwise they'd slide right off and it'd be a big mess.
I then took a toothpick and drizzled the candy melts over the head and
dabbed here and there. He really started to look like Elmo! It scared me haha.
I was so excited, I continued on until they were all finished! :)
I was loving the way they were turning out. Although
at times I was getting frustrated with having to hold
the cake pop so it dries fully because the nose was feeling
too heavy to stay put and sliding down. So I continued
doing this until I finished all the candy eyes. The extra cake
pops I just dipped in blue candy melt I had on hand
to blend in with the Elmo & Cookie Monster cake
my sister was having at the party. :)
A few of them patiently waiting
in the fridge to chill
yummyyyy!!!
My masterpiece!!! Loved them!! ..
and so did everyone else :)

Cookie Monster cake my niece had
If you haven't seen the movie Despicable Me, you are definitely missing out. My kids love it, but I think my husband loves it even more. It is such a funny movie, can't wait for part 2 to come out Summer 2013. My 2 year old's birthday was coming up, April 6. She has been watching Despicable Me on demand basically everyday. Even started repeating what they say on her own, such a goofball. So when I saw the different kinds of treats from Pinterest (of course, my favorite site). My husband printed out a few images off of google of some of the characters from there for her cake. As for me, I had a different idea. I wanted to make the minions cupcakes. I knew for sure the kids would love them. As for all things, I need to give credit where credit is due. Despicable Me cupcakes thank you for your tutorial. The cupcakes were a big hit at my daughters party (combined with Easter dinner at my house with family). I pretty much followed the tutorial from above so no need to write out what I did since I linked it for you all to see.
Here is the outcome of my beautiful cupcakes.
It's been quite awhile since I've posted. Life has got me busy, from kids & their homework to just housework and some sort of "me" time. In between all of that, I managed to de-stress by making some cute Easter themed desserts & crafts. For Easter I made a cute wreath made out of plastic Easter Eggs. I got the idea off of Pinterest and directed to this site Easter Wreath. Although I tweaked a few things here and there but the main idea came from this blog I was linked too. My dear daughters helped a lot too! I think they were just as excited to make the Easter wreath than I was. I received many compliments from it as well, so that made my girls proud ;).
Stuff you'll need:
plastic eggs
Easter grass
glue gun
cardboard
Ribbon for bow
Something to tie the ribbon after you've made it into a bow
Sharp tool for cutting(I couldn't use a scissor so I used a razor)
First I took the cardboard and made 2 circles (any size, doesn't matter, just matter's how big you want the wreath to be). Cut the middle section out as well. Then clue the two cardboards on top of each other.
Next my girls got all the plastic eggs together to glue on the cardboard. Here they are proud and excited to help!
After gluing all the plastic eggs on, layering them to my liking. You can make it as thick as you want, however you want to layer the eggs on. Positioning the eggs is also key. Placing the glue on the thickest part of the egg so that way it doesn't pop open, making sure that you place them straight down that way the same problem doesn't occur.
After the eggs are all placed on, Start adding in the grass in between. The website says no need to glue it on and that's true. However, there was a few areas where I just inserted some glue and just stuck the grass in and kind of shoved it in with a pencil. It worked! :)
I then had to search on youtube how to make a bow out of ribbon. I sure was never a crafty person before Pinterest. I found an excellent video on youtube, sadly I cannot remember the link to the video. I was so pleased with the way I was able to make the bow. So exciting!!! Now you can either place the bow on the top or bottom. Mine looked better at the bottom.
Here it is above my fireplace where I placed it and received tons of compliments! :) Thank you Pinterest!!!!!!
Everyone in my household was pleased with the way it brought out the room. You can definitely feel the Easter feeling in my house :)
Pinterest is really going to make me broke! I am addicted to this site and am constantly checking what things I can do--whether it's baking, crafting, cooking..you name it. I'm in love with it! I have been in the spirit of Easter activities..crafts & baking. I found this Easter treats pin and already made up my mind to make it for my daughter's class before they are out for Easter break. Well of course I have to do a "trial run" to make sure it's delicious---I definitely don't want no kids teasing my daughter about her mama's baking. So I got theRobin's Egg Nest Treats and gathered all my materials I'd need. However, I am not a fan of artificial food coloring. Food dyes are a big no no in my house. In fact, I try not to buy items with artificial food colorings, so I've learned to make awesome food dyes with veggies! Yes you read that correctly. If you didn't know, you can make some tasty, and not to mention healthy, food dye naturally that actually tastes pretty good. I have a 6, 5 & 2 year old who can agree with that.
First things first---follow all the directions on the Robin's Egg Nest Treatspage. If you're like me, omit the artificial food dye coloring. Instead, here's what I tried and it worked perfect! I put about 1 to 2 cups of kale in the blender, add a little water to help the blender mix it well. Now you just power it on and blend it until the leaves are all turned to juice. add about 2 tablespoons to the coconut flakes (or you can add more. I believe I added about 4 tablespoons, I wanted it a little bit darker green.). The more you keep adding, the darker the color. If you follow the directions on the link above, you'll have great results like me :) My kids and husband enjoyed them! And I don't have to feel guilty about the dye--it's KALE! something they won't eat just like that.
Here is what my outcome was...I'm quite pleased with it :) In fact, I'm PROUD of it. I cannot wait to make some for my daughter's class.
They passed the taste test :)
Well lately my face looks like it's had its beatings =/ . Lack of sleep, no resting can put a toll on not only my body but my complexion as well. How much can a woman take?! I finally put my foot (well not literally but I liked the sound of that haha) and decided that I need to make time for myself. This momma needs some TLC and not just from my dear husband. :) First things first, I found an awesome recipe, thanks to Pinterest. I must give credit where credit is due. Thank you to Petit Elefant for posting it on your blog so I was able to experiment and found it to work incredibly well!
Here's what you'll need:
A blender or bowl to mix the ingredients---I used a blender, so much easier and faster.
2 Slices of Lemon
2 Slices of Oranges
1/2 Cup of Olive Oil
1/2 Cup of Sea Salt
After getting all of my ingredients and blender ready I put them in the blender. As you can see in the first picture, I had already put the oil and sea salt in the blender. I was so excited to make it that I forgot to take a picture of the two ingredients in the measuring cups.
Here's another picture with the orange slices & lemon slices in the blender as well.
Next after everything's put in the blender, push the ON button and start blending!! :) it's awesome seeing how the consistency gets so thick and smells so delicious!
Here is what mine turned out like. I didn't have a glass jar so I just used an empty plastic container. Whatever works, right? I tried it as soon as I was finished and it felt amazingly citrusy ;) The "glow" on my complexion looked like it was coming back and I definitely felt more refreshed. Yay for the citrus scrub!!
Hi All!!! My husband has worked very hard to make this video as good as it can get, considering how old the footage is. It's his brother singing the famous Assyrian song, Qalat Qarna. He added clips from different movies and internet images to perfect this video. My husband has such a passion for video editing, he loves it..probably more than he loves me!! ;) haha. I hope everyone who watches this video, whether you understand the lyrics or not (because it is in Assyrian), will love the actual editing of the video. The link to the video is here: http://youtu.be/9ylyPpQjkVI
Would love any feedback anyone has on this video. :) Enjoy!
....it's a New Day.....thus...it's a New Beginning.
So I must say that everything I have been doing nowadays and the things that I did do days before have definitely caught up to me. As a stay at home mom, you'd think things are much simpler. Um. No. Think twice. Everything's in your hands to maintain while the husband (or your significant other) is at work to pay the bills. Although, my dear husband tries to help as much as he can, but we all know that it's a woman's JOB to do the cleaning if you want it done right! :) I must not knock my husband down though, he is a pretty clean and responsible guy. If he makes a mess, he'll clean it up where I won't notice..especially after just cleaning all day. That's one of the many reasons why I love him so dearly.
With 3 young children (ages 6, 5, and almost 2) I have been running around doing so much and honestly I don't know why! haha. Even at night, I don't get a full night's sleep. My youngest keeps waking up, molars are such a bother. I wish they'd just grow out already. These teeth are not only torturing dear daughter but her mother as well. ughhh I can't wait for it to be over with.
My exhaustion caused me to be MIA from my blog. My apologies. I wanted to share a little birthday basket full of cake pops I made for a lady that works with my mother. That will save for another post, another day because I have to gather the photos together and recall what I used and all. I was very proud of it! It looked so beautiful. I cannot wait to show you all. Hopefully later tonight I will post it up or even tomorrow. I may need to call it an early night.
I saw this on Pinterest and fell in love with the idea! Today my little girls and I made a trip to the dollar store and picked out a few items. My 6 and 5 year old helped put this and another together. I think they came out absolutely beautiful!! :) what do you readers think? Yay or nay? ........
....New Day, New Beginning
After days of web browsing and researching, I have decided to finally start my own blog! How exciting! I am new to all of this so it's going to take some getting used too. I do plan on blogging what I am going to start doing/making. I have recently fallen in love with the idea of making cake pops! It looks so neat, especially the characters! I cannot wait. My first one will hopefully be an Easter theme one. I have bought all the needed supplies, so maybe day 1 will be tomorrow. Pictures will be attached, maybe even a video, who knows!
New Day.....New Beginning!
I married my soulmate, the most amazing man in the world on May 8, 2004. With the help of the Lord, our love has grown and hopefully will continue to grow. I am a blessed mother to three beautiful girls that I simply adore. They are my everything, complete my world.
